The TOGETHER TO GO (TOG) Foundation is a no profit association (Onlus), established in the end of 2011. Seat in Milan, in Viale Famagosta 75, it responds to a city need, realizing a rehabilitation center of excellence for children sick of neurological disease. Child attended at TOG center has lesion at the nervous system with different deficit: motoric, cognitive, behavioral and communicative.
The rehabilitation is very complex because has to face:
– how the child move (physical therapy and the realization of customize aid like orthopedic insole, child seat made by plaster bandage, lapin, etc);
– how the child talk (speech therapy) and, if he’s not able to communicate with words, how to teach him to use different kind of language (augmentative or alternative communication, use of information tools, etc.);
– how the child understand, to try to increase his state of mind;
– how the child psychologically interact with the world (psychomotility, music therapy, psychic support).
The lighting design provides a light which on the one hand supports the specific requirements for the different therapies (speech therapy, cognitive, motor, psychomotor therapy, music therapy), and the other allows the child to feel at ease in an environment that is not perceived as a hospital. The introduction of color in this sense was crucial, with its beneficial psycho-physiological properties.
Even the design of the lamps has been carefully chosen, preferring lamps with soft and fiendly shapes contributing to create warm and playful spaces.
